Tyohm Resistor

Shun Yeh Electric Co., Ltd. was founded in 1958 by its founder, Mr. Kuo Baiyi, originally named Shun Yeh Electric Factory. Located in Taipei, Taiwan, it became the first resistor manufacturer in Taiwan, supplying products to radio and record player manufacturers. Initially producing simple wound resistors, it later added carbon film resistors within a few years. As domestic television production began, anticipating a significant surge in resistor demand, the company formed a joint venture and technical collaboration with the Japanese Resistor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (简称JRM) in 1970, investing NT$4 million to establish a factory in Ximen Street, Sanchong City. This marked the renaming to Shun Yeh Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., with the English brand name TY-OHM. The product line expanded to include metal film resistors, wound cement resistors, non-flammable resin wound resistors, and wound variable resistors, supplying domestic and international television manufacturers such as RCA,大同, New Force, Taiwan Panasonic, and Philips. To align with the trend of joint ventures in Taiwan by the Taiwan Telecommunications Administration, U.S. ITT, and GTE, the company further partnered with U.S. Kidco in 1975 to produce precision metal film resistors, advancing toward precision components and corporate management.
